The Art of Therapeutic Self Massage

When you can't get to a massage therapist, self massage is the next best thing. Try some of these techniques after a long day, or as part of your meditation ritual.

Someone said that a massage therapist should get one massage for every seven he or she gives. When I can't get to my massage therapist, I do extra yoga, take a salt bath and I do one or more of the techniques listed below.

Massaging oneself is also an excellent way to learn how the different techniques feel on the body, and how to apply pressure. I have learned a lot by massaging my forearm with different tools (knuckle, elbow, thumb, etc).

A side note: All of these techniques can be used on someone else, but they are particularly easier to do for oneself than other listed on the techniques page.
