Sandalwood Essential Oil
In the practical sense, sandalwood essential oil makes a great fixative
for your aromatherapy massage oil blends, but it also has soothing,
woodsy fragrance that can't be beat.
Sandalwood essential oil was the first
essential oil I ever purchased. I was 16 years old and was looking for
an anointing oil for meditation.
Sandalwood proved to be the perfect
selection! I ended up wearing it all the time, because for me it felt
that it was energetically protective as well, but I also fell in love
with the scent.
As a fixative, it will stabilize your oil
blends, and it happens to blend well with many other oils so it is good
to use for this purpose.
This scent is known to be mood enhancing to
such a degree that some claim it is an aphrodisiac. I have not found
this to be true, still, I am not drawn to use sandalwood essential oil
on my massage clients, even though I love the scent.
Sandalwood, with it's woodsy smell, is appropriate for both women and men.
It is said to be particularly good for ailments of the throat (such as dry cough). Just remember, do not ingest!
You can mix a few drops with some jojoba oil and work into dry, damaged hair. Also, use the same mix for dry skin.
It blends well with rose and other floral scents.
