Lavender Essential Oil

Just one deep inhale of lavender essential oil and it sends most people into a drift of ecstatic relaxation.

Lavender essential oil is one of the most versatile, healing, gentle, and (in my opinion) pleasant aromatherapy massage oils to work with.

I also find it is the scent that my clients are most familiar with and react to most drastically. It creates a light, relaxing "vibe" for the massage.

Also, this is a pretty gentle oil, so it can be used on most people with sensitive skin (but it's still good to check with the client first).

Benefits

Acne: It has been mentioned as a treatment for acne because it has antibacterial qualities. Lavender can be used on the face with most people.

Headaches & Stress: Inhaling the scent is an excellent treatment for stress and tension headaches.

Depression: Inhaling the scent has also been said to lift spirits and relieve depression.

Room Scent & Body Mist: It makes a wonderful atomizer. Fill a spray bottle with spring water and add a few drops of lavender oil. Spray in room and on self. (Add a few eucalyptus essential oil drops and substitute rosewater for spring water and the mix will also clean energy). The other way to scent the room with lavender essential oil is to use an oil burner.

Bug repellent: I've noticed it repels bugs (except for bees, obviously). However, I've noticed that fennel essential oil works even better.

Scented Bath: Add 10 drops to 1/2 a cup of Sea Salt and/or Epsom Salt. Mix it well. The salt prevents the oil from just floating to the top of the water.

Massage: I like to mix 3-5 drops with 1 oz of unscented carrier oil (jojoba, sweet almond oil, grapeseed oil, etc) or cream (shea butter, cocoa butter, etc).

Muscle Soother: THIS IS ONE OF MY FAVORITES! For temporary relief of achy muscles, I like to rub some pure lavender essential oil onto the muscle for about a minute. Then I rub marjoram essential oil on the same spot afterward (marjoram can be a bit more caustic to the skin, though, so be careful.) I find that this will offer temporarily relief to the muscle.
