Frankincense Essential Oil
Frankincense essential oil, made from a tree that grows in southern
Arabia, is a biblical scent associated with the Roman Catholic Church
(often burned with myrrh in churches).
For that reason, the scent has a very
ethereal effect on me (as is true for other people) because I associate
it with religious rites.
Frankincense (also called Olibenum) is
great to use externally. It makes an excellent astringent for the skin
when mixed with water. I have also heard it works well on acne, but I
haven't tried that treatment.
The scent also relieves stress, calms the
system and helps individuals to frame situations. It might not
transform the situation, but it will help in gaining a more expansive,
positive way of viewing our world.
That's why I like to refer to frankincense as the oil that helps us "see the silver lining around the cloud!"
